What Is CreepyPasta and Where It Began

In a generation where the horror genre is exploding, I'd like to popularize what is known as a "CreepyPasta". Telling horror stories around a camp fire has been a tradition for many years but this concept has been dying out. I believe the reason for this is because of a changing horror genre and a new generation. For instance, the hit horror movie The Exorcist was released in 1973. My parents told me that this movie use to give them nightmares so naturally I had to check it out but was thoroughly disappointed. The movie itself was good but it wasn't scary. Likewise, an urban legend I use to hear as a kid about a woman in white that haunted a mountain top in my town use to scare me senseless but when I related the story to my little sister, she didn't seem too unnerved. So what happens when the art of scary story telling is reborn on the internet? Well let me start by telling you about the word "CreepyPasta".
