Pasta of the Week: Candle Cove

I never imagined pirates to be on the scary end of the spectrum until I read a horror story called Candle Cove . Candle Cove is a Creepy Pasta written by web cartoonist, Kris Straub. The story is told on a fictional online forum "NetNostalgia Forums" setting up a unique story writing arc where a user starts a topic asking if anyone remembers an old children's TV show that aired in the early 1970's called "Candle Cove". This story truly begins to unnerve the reader as people begin to comment about memories they had about the mysterious TV show. The show, which was real low budget, was set in the magical world of Candle Cove and it was about a little girl named Janice who became friends and went on adventures with pirates. The show mostly starred marionettes with the only acceptation being Janice who was actually played by a human actress. While a horror story will always be a horror story, there are also different categories of Creepy Pasta. That is, horror stories classified by what type of story is being told and while some of these are pretty obvious such as the Ghost category or the Disappearances category, Creepy Pasta has implemented some interesting new categories especially within the new generation of technology. For instance, there is what as known as the Lost Episode category. These stories typically involve lost episodes from famous TV shows that were never shown to the public for one reason or another. A classic example that circulated the internet is a story called Dead Bart about an unaired episode of The Simpsons that featured a very dark plot where Bart is killed.
